WORDS OF LIFE

God SPOKE the world into existence.  He gave words power. 

• Do we know this in theory? Sure!
• Do we walk this out through life as if it’s a core belief? Hardly.
• Do we recognize the degree to which our words have power? Unlikely.

We may be great at encouraging others but what do our words sound like to ourselves? 

When someone speaks ill of you, are you able to immediately recognize those words as false and completely forget them?  

Let’s dig into scripture and unravel the thread the Lord has woven in regards to our charge to choose WORDS OF LIFE for ourselves and for those around us. 

In this week’s video, we’ll talk a little about the science behind the effect of words and then we’ll dig into scripture and see that God foretold us all that science is now proving!

I love when God’s word is supported by science!

Choosing WORDS OF LIFE is a charge the Lord has given us.  A command.  An instruction for us to follow.  It’s more than just being outward with our words; it’s filling our hearts up with His word so that WORDS OF LIFE naturally flow from our mouths (and in our thoughts). 

Written by an unknown Christian, the book How To Live the Victorious Life, says, “To want to do wrongful things and restrain from doing them is not the real victory.  The wonderful thing is that God takes the “want to” out of our very hearts, and we long only to do His will.”

It’s not enough to just choose our words.  If the negative thought is in our mind, yet our words are in opposition to that thought, we have missed the mark.  Our thought life should lead our words.  So rather than this being a simple exercise of behavior modification “only speaking what is good,” it needs to be a deeper exercise; to change our heart so that our words are the FRUIT of that changed heart.
