COURAGE – (as defined in the Webster’s 1928 Dictionary) –
noun [Latin , the heart.]
Â
Bravery; intrepidity; that quality of mind which enables men to encounter danger and difficulties with firmness, or without fear or depression of spirits; valor; boldness; resolution.
Â
It is a constituent part of fortitude; but fortitude implies patience to bear continued suffering.
Â
COURAGE that grows from constitution, often forsakes a man when he has occasion for it; courage which arises from a sense of duty, acts in a uniform manner.
Â
Be strong and of good courage Deuteronomy 31:6.
As parents, we’re commanded to instruct our kids in the way of the Lord. The Bible says trusting the Lord is where we get the ability to overcome and to be brave.Â
Â
As Brooke McGlothlin wrote in her book Praying for Teen Boys, “no one is so uniquely positioned as [parents] to see the character flaws that might trip [our kids] up, lovingly point them out, and take steps to master them.”
Â
“The Bible doesn’t tell us to dance as close to the line that separates sinning from not sinning, it tells us to turn around and run in the opposite direction.”
Â
Where we see confusion, we pray clarity. Where we see timidity, we pray confidence. Where we see cowardice, we pray courage.
Â
When we see bravery, stewardship, fortitude, and discipline, we pray the Lord continues to fan into flame this gifting! We edify our children in these areas and to encourage them to continue to fight the good fight.
Â
Prayer is where we do all the heavy lifting to instill godly morals and convictions into our teens.Â
Â
Only the Lord can do this deep work in their hearts and minds so let’s dive into how praying for our teen’s courage can give them the foundation with which to be more than a conqueror.
